I recently purchased a couple of old Soviet 1895 Nagant revolvers. Is anyone here familiar with this weapon? It seems to be the only revolver that can be suppressed, and can be had for about $100.

I haven't had them threaded up yet, but plan to suppress them with a 9mm can. My question is, which one? I'm trying not to go broke on the silencer since the weapon itself is so inexpensive. Also, I'd like the can to sort of match the pistol. I'm looking for an "old war gun" feel, but with adequate suppression akin to todays technology. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I know SilencerCo and AAC are top notch. I just feel that they're a little too fancy for these old revolvers imo. So I'm trying to find something "perfect" for them, and welcome any suggestions. Thanks guys.

Re: 1895 Nagant Revolver

I had a buddy thread one for his form 1 can. I will see if I can find the video or have him post it up.

Dont know how to get it embedded here but heres the link...

"M1895 suppressed nagant revolver. The first two rounds are 7.62 Nagant followed by alternating rounds of 32 S&W Long and 7.62 Nagant. The nature of this revolver allows the longer 7.62 ammunition to create a seal between the cylinder and barrel therefore maximizing the effect of the silencer."

Re: 1895 Nagant Revolver

Thanks for the video. I'm loading it up as we speak. Any ideas on what suppressor choice would fit the guidelines I listed above? I don't think I'd be up to making my own. I don't believe I have the necessary equipment or understanding to tackle a project of that caliber. Great video though! I was especially interested in the .32 ammo demonstration. I had wondered how well it would perform at sealing versus the factory 7.62 ammo.

I actually just ordered 1000 rounds of surplus 7.62. I've heard it to be corrosive, and wonder also if this would have an impact on what can to purchase. As in, what materials would stand up best to the corrosive ammo?

Re: 1895 Nagant Revolver

I tried this years ago. Do yourself a favor, suppress a different handgun. Most suppressors will cost several hundreds of $ more than the revolver is worth.

Re: 1895 Nagant Revolver

I understand that the revolver is not the greatest. It is however, totally great to me. I have a SIG 1911 that will be suppressed in the near future as well. So with that being said, what didn't you like about the Nagant suppressed? Was it just the cost for the can versus the pistol?

Money really isn't that much of an issue for me. I just want an old school look. All the expensive cans are a little too high tech looking for my tastes with the revolver. The YHM mentioned above does interest me though. It's about as "tech" as I could deal with I think, won't break the bank, and it does what I need it to. It could also be used in the future on a different weapon. I plan to own multiple suppressors and weapons that will run them.

I just really think the Nagant is a fun little platform to get started on, and has tons of history as well. I'm still open to any and all suggestions. Thank you 762-SupressorPimp for yours..

Any reason to stay away from the Gemtech Mk-9k? Seems to be on the same price scale as the YHM Cobra…

Also.. Thompson Machine prices are phenomenally low. Any adverse reason for this?

Re: 1895 Nagant Revolver

HAHAHA.. man, that's actually pretty funny. Understand I'm new to suppressors.

I'll stay away from it though if you guys think I should. At this point, I'm really leaning toward the Thompson Machine. For the money, looks like a great product. I'm at the point that I've decided there is nothing that isn't going to look "high tech" so I'm just going on value.

But, without "bashing", what's the deal with Gemtech?

It says Gem-Tech on it... </div></div>

Nothing wrong with the majority of the gemtech cans...... I said majority, not all of them!

Re: 1895 Nagant Revolver

I have a GEMTECH multimount that is whored out to platforms from 9mm, to 300blk, to 5.7x28. Great can with many options for mounting on many different platforms.

A little FN FiveSeven action. Round is still supersonic but the 9mm can does pretty well in numbing the bark of this round.

Re: 1895 Nagant Revolver

I think this is turning into a suppressor battle.. I think I'll go get my popcorn now.

On a serious note, I'm loving this so far. As a suppressor noob, it's great to see/hear some of the opinions of guys that have put rounds through them. I have tons of options floating through my head. YHM Cobra, Gemtech MM, AAC Tirant9/Evo9, SWR Octane/Trident, AWC Abraxis, Thompson Machine Isis2… Too many to list!

Seems like manufacturers sometimes inflate their specs, only adding confusion to the buyer.

If you had to pick one 9mm can, for sound reduction, size/weight, customer service, and price… In that order. What would it be fellas?

Probably the most unbiased display I've seen yet.

I'm thinking SWR Trident 9 at this point. It's full auto capable, suppression equal to the Tirant, in a shorter/lighter package, with a lifetime warranty. Any reason to upgrade to the Octane for the extra inch in length and 3 ounces that it grew? I know it's able to be taken apart. Is that worth the extra weight and length?

I plan on having a few full auto weapons in the future, and would like the can to be able to go on almost anything 9mm..

HA. Haven't heard the old Russian Reversal in a while. Thanks for the laugh. Very thread appropriate. I enjoyed that immensely. In Soviet Russia, immensely enjoys YOU!

And to the video poster… damn that thing is quiet. And that's why I bought two. Well, actually one is a birthday present for a lady friend. I showed her some videos and she gave me permission to get her barrel threaded when I take mine in. So now we're going to have matching silenced revolvers.

She also suggested we get something in Russian stamped into the barrels so we can tell them apart, and for obvious cool factor. Any suggestions for word/phrase for the barrels? The word/phrase should compliment each other or be opposites or that sort.
