Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 22lr kits.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

I'm assuming you are talking about 22 rim fire conversion units for 1911s.

I've had 2, the Colt Ace and the Kart. Both worked quite well but the Kart was pure target quality. I don't know if they still make the Kart or not, but if you can find one you wont be disapointed.

I lost mine to my son who started Bullseye Shooting. Don't remember what happened to the ACE.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

I had a wilson combat kit that I used on my Springfield 1911 A-1. It worked flawlessly,as good as any .22lr pistol, accuracy was good as well. The only con was the cost of additional magazines.

definitely a great product.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

I have a Marvel II; works well.

Nighthawk announced their version (built by Marvel) several months ago. "Should ship in two or three weeks (mid-May). Mid-May..."Should ship in mid-July." Mid-July..."We don't know."

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

I bought a ceiner about 14 years ago, works great, had to build a dedicated frame for it after a while, my 9 year old daughter is
currently wearing it out and taking me to the poor house with 22 ammo expenses.
life is good.

That's exactly what I'm waiting for, ship date is later this month. I'm selling my other two kits to fund the TacSol. One is Advantage Arms, adjustable sights, runs great on Remington Yellow Jackets, includes three mags.
The other is a Kimber kit, pretty sure it's never even been mounted. One magazine.

PM if interested.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

I am going to be picking up a Nighthawk version on my next paycheck. It is a Marvel

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

A word of caution on the Ciener - mine works fine on a Colt and a Kimber but the ejector on my Springfield subcombact interferes and it will not allow the slide to fit all the way on.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

I wish I could find a all steel 22lr slide. I really dislike alloy's because the few i've fiddled around with have worn badly.

I wonder if theres a marvel type, with a steel slide (like the CZ75 22lr conversion)

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

Update on the Nighthawk conversion:

Per Larry at Nighthawk they started receiving them about one week ago. Mine is expected to ship sometime next week.

They were held up because only 50 rounds had been fired through each and Nighthawk's requirement is 120.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

I have the Marvel. Test target it came with shows a 5 shot group @ 50 yards of .81. That will work for me. It is threaded for my can and the top end is railed so I may put on whatever type of optic I desire. It pretty much has all the bells and whistles.

It was not cheap, but for the years of use I will get out of it, why not!

Het Eddie,

When you spoke to the folks at Nighthawk, was that just for the 1911, single-stack model or was there any mention of the 2011/STI/SVI wide-body model? I only ask because last I heard was basically something to the effect of "we're working on it, but don't have a timeframe."

Thanks and looking forward to seeing your conversion once you have it in-hand and get some time on the range with it!

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

New update. Tried to order today and was told that they had a problem with a slide cracking or something like that, and that I should try back in a month to see if they have worked out the problems. Seriously bummed out.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

I have a Marvell Unit2 I'm happy with. Very accurate. A few problems arise running .22 subs, target or standard velocity works great. Like my g17 conversion, both really like cheap .22 goldies.
Springfield "loaded" lower.
Complaints:
1) The tensioning rod (where a 1911 guide rod would be) will eventually work loose running it with a can on the end. If this isn't set properly, issues arise.
2) The mags suck to load.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

Called Nighthawk today. A little evasive, but didn't deny the cracked slide issue. No idea on a timeline. I canxed my order.

I'll shoot the Marvel for a while longer and decided what I want.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

Apparently, a few got out. Saw one for sale on Gunbroker. I'm going to wait until they been in the field a while...if I don't jump on the Tactical Solutions first.

Re: 1911 22lr kits.

My Tactical Solutons kit arrived yesterday. Looks nice, went right on the truck 1911's frame, and shot well in the limited testing I've done so far using Gemtech subs and a YHM Mite.
I've got a pic I'll post later of it with a Burris Fastfire.

I'm still selling my Advantage Arms kit with three magazines, if anybody's interested PM me. Also, sadly, selling Springfield, STI, and pre-CZ Dan Wesson 1911s....
