Can any one help me with where to buy a Long slide for a GI 1911 frame made by Springfield Armory? I know some one makes them because I have read about them. I just don't remember who it was. Thanks for any help that you can give.

Re: 1911 Long Slide

I know that Springfield makes a long slide butt the frame is bigger than the one on a government model. Did you just order the slide from the custom shop? May I ask what it cost? Thank you much for your time.

Re: 1911 Long Slide

I ordered a complete pistol. A 6 inch 9mm PPC pistol. I dont know if the frame is any different from any other, I'll compare two and get back to you. The complete pistol being a full custom build top to bottom was about $2,000.00 but that was 5 years ago

But Caspian is probably your best bet. Check their specials.

Re: 1911 Long Slide

Caspian is the only way to go. Just ask Les Baer, or Nighthawk. If you knew how many companies use Caspian as there slide and frame producers, you would be shocked. Just because it has one name does not mean that the company made it. Caspian is also one of the best companies in the industry to deal with. My barrels have my name on them, but I did not make them in my shop. All great companies.

Yes, I welded mine and many others over the years.
