1985 Ruger 77/22

Hello, I've had a 77/22 for 25 years and havn't shot it much, it's in pristine condition and I love the rifle. I'm getting back into the sport and am wondering if anyone could enlighten me on this era rifle; does it have a pinned barrel, how is accuracy, and how much different are the production rifles of today?

Tim...give Randy at CPC precision in Middletown a shout (on the web) I bought a 77/17 that he did...awesome job. This guy can make Rugers shoot at 50 right up there with Annies...

I have a 77/22 about the same age and it shoots great. I had a trigger job done after purchasing it. It is my go to 22. It just might suprise you.

I can't comment on the accuracy, but your barrel should be attatched with a V-block like the 10/22's. Word has it that the new ones, after #703-54500...nov 10 '09 are threaded...#1 on Randy at CPC..

then if your not happy with accuracy see about a match barrel. but overall they are good little guns. add a suppressor and your good to go...

I have one from this era that has shot great. Trigger has never been worked on - I found this mongo shoe to put on it, and it seems to work pretty good. Mine is setup for hunting more than as a trianer and has had a lot of rounds down the tube and has been lots of fun.

The trigger is not pinned, at least mine was not. It uses the barrel V block, similar to the 10/22.

I had one of that vintage, and it was very accurate. Can not speak of the quality vs. the new ones.
