1k for a 300 Win Rifle

I'm looking at getting a 300 winmag for hunting and target shooting. I want to keep it under 1k. I have access to a Remingtom 700 5R Gen 2 threaded and I like the ability to change stuff on it over time if I want. Planning on getting a Viper PST G2 3-15 OR 5-25 to go with it.

what would yall recommend at this price point?

If you can bump up your budget a little, check out the athlon ares ERT. Or check out the PX for a used one.

That Rem 700 5R would work nicely. If you want something lighter take a look at a Tikka T3.

Add Howa 1500 to the list. Brownells usually has a couple .300WM barreled actions in different barrel lengths/contours for sale.

Howa with the stock of your choice should get you in well under budget. Tikkas are very nice too. Lots of options in that price range. Think about what features matter most to you and go from there.

Those Gen2 5R's are awesome, good choice.
Make sure if you haven't handled a Howa you do that first if you do consider buying one, they are a lot different to a 700, you may not like it depending on what you are used to.
