1st Juniper Swamp Tactical Match - (VIDEO)

Re: 1st Juniper Swamp Tactical Match - (VIDEO)

Thanks Richie for the great vid, I can't stop myself from watching it again and again. And thanks to John & Glenn again for putting this match together, it was a blast.

Make sure you not only leave feedback, but RATE for the video if you have a youtube account. That way he'll get a 5 star rating for his work.

Thanks,
Chris

I like the match director talking about wiggling the gun all around.

I gave it 5 stars on 'tube.

The match is held in Fremont, NC. This was the first one that was put together, but John plans on running one every 2 months. Each time with a different course of fire. It was a great time. A bunch of Hide members turned out. The next one is in January.

John doesn't talk funny, in fact the dip improves his diction. Even I could understand him, and I was born in New York City....

However, John is a funny guy though. I mean anybody who likes to jump out of a perfectly functioning aircraft, has to be a few fries short of a Happy Meal.

Just saying,

Re: 1st Juniper Swamp Tactical Match - (VIDEO)

I am going to talk to Glen this week.

I feel we should do more of a LE sniper style comp just to change it up some.

To me there are three styles of these kind of comp's.

Military
LE
And Civilian

None are better than the other, but they have a different feel to each style and target packages.

The first match was a mix of all types, I need to talk to Glen, his CBS idea is GREAT and I have never seen his idea done.

So we will run with it as the start, and then shift gears to a LE style, but Glen and I will come up with something to make this FUN!!!!!!

IMHO, it doesn't matter which way you guys decide to go, I.E. civilian, Military, or LE.... or a combination of all three. The ultimate goal should be to bring everyone out of their comfort zone. To push every level of shooter past their abilities, but at the same time have fun doing it.

In general, most individuals rebuke change. They get used to one way of doing things and when those parameters change... they get upset. The marksmanship arena is no different. On occasion you will find the people who are used to shooting in only NRA matches, for example, and then their brought out of their comfort zone in tactical comps, they blame the weather, ammo, or other things because they didn't shoot as good as they think they should have.

Please let it be known that I'm not knocking NRA style matches. They are fun and very useful to perfect static skills, but tactical comps should push each shooter to their limits concerning real life scenarios. The world is constantly evolving... so should our limits of ability.

Sorry if I got off track here. I know I went on a tangent a bit..LOL.

Chris,

I am with you 100%.

The end goal of all tactical precision matches should not be the shooting aspect at all.

The end goal is problem solving.

What skill set should I use in this situation? What I like to do, is give the worst case situation, worst case position to shoot in, and show the shooter, this is not ideal, but works.
