Well considering how much I like to put the smack on groundhogs a prairie dog hunt is something I've wanted to do for a long time.
.
Just returned from South Dakota today, damn that drive sucks.
.
Here's a few photos from my trip:
.
On our way in we (3 friends from work) found some turkey:
.
Got to the "lodge" unpacked everything, spoke with our host and got permission to start hunting. Crested the first hill an working our way down I broke my "cherry" of prairie dog hunting.
.
Yeah that 60gr NBT seemed to work sufficiently.
.
We saw pronghorn, turkey, mule deer while hunting. Here's a through the scope view of some deer that are out there a ways. Sorry its not better but best I could do:
.
An of course whats a post of prairie dogs with out some carnage:
.
Also took my 45% IPSC target from Big Dog Steel along in case things got slow. We put it out at about 800.
Rifle View to steel:
.
Target area:
.
Enlarged Target (right in line with tree):
.
The steel was shot a FEW times during a zero check but got smacked more at distance.
Before:
After:
.
An thats all folks:
