If you were going to use one gun (Surgeon .308) for everything from hunting to F-Class which optic would you go with? I currently have 3 NF NXS (2.5-10, 3.5-15, 5.5-22). Im just not sure which one I want to use. I like the 22x power for long shots on paper but the 2.5-10 is sure lightweight. Not much difference in size between the 3.5-15 and the 5.5-22. I would also consider selling a couple and stepping up to a USO or PH if they are that much better. Any ideas?

5-22x50 if it were me....but if willing to buy new then the 5-25 Premier gets my vote.

I've found out it's really hard to "hunt" with a heavy rifle. Walking from a vehicle to a stand doesn't count, so a heavy rifle is okay for that. But if your walking.... up and down, etc, weight is going to catch up to you. 19oz vs 39oz. no brainer, 2.5-10X32. should be perfect . I have a 8.5-32X56 NXS on my 7WSM, I hunt with it from a blind, it is still a bit un handy trying to get it into shooting position. So now I have an excuse to build a designated hunting rifle.

I was thinking along the same lines: one gun for hunting and F-class. Did not make much sense after looking into it: two completely different activities. Do you really want to haul around a 15lb gun on a weeklong hunt where you hope to shoot it once? Do you really want to use a 10x scope in F-class?
If you get the surgeon action, it makes a perfect switch barrel rifle. Get a short light barrel for hunting and a long heavy barrel for F-Class. Likewise, get a light low-power hunting scope and a fixed power 24x or 36x for F-Class. I use the NF 2.5-10x32 for hunting and have a Weaver 24x for F-Class(nice but inexpensive)
