Q1: How does the DI gun in the first video fire flawlessly but the one in the bottom blows like I thought all DI guns do when water is in the system??

Q2: How badly will this rust (AR15/M4) after either one of these tests?? I know "Seal teams" take these under water often.. Do they run into heavy rust or do they have a system besides the plactic bag to prevent it?

Re: 2 quick questions..

Other than the cheesy german techno music - I would say that was staged or rigged for the M4 to fail. I'm not an M4 Fanboy or anti-HK by any stretch. But if you look at the bottom vid - the guy is not wearing any face protection other than a snorkel mask when he fires the HK. BUT.... when he shoots the M4, he's wearing a full faceplate helmet because he KNEW the M4 was going to blow.

I call BS.

Re: 2 quick questions..

I can only think of one legit reason the HK video showed the M4 blowing up- if you pay close attention, he keeps the barrel with a slight upward slant and give virtually zero time for water drainage. In the HK video, be brings the rifle up with a slight down slant and waits 3 seconds or so for water drainage.

Over-all I'd guess the video was rigged- so long as the weapon is not FULL of water, it should fire and function fine.

Re: 2 quick questions..

Yea I know the hk was meant for the m4 to fail. I just thought you have to take the upper fully appart and let just about every drip out in a DI gun. But the spikes just showed him racking the bolt and half the water came out and it worked just fine..

Mil doctrine just calls for you to tip barrel down and drain out the water. Would be a bit unpractical if you had to take it apart!

Re: 2 quick questions..

I saw the water out of the front of the barrel but I didnt think that was good enough until now. The way everyone always craps on the AR platform and DI systems when it came to water.. They made it seem like if it wasnt fully FULLY dry down the tube or the gas system it go boom.

Re: 2 quick questions..

I think one big difference is that the Spikes shooter uses the charging handle after picking up the weapon and they dont in the HK vid. This would allow the gas tube to drain out through the chamber, where if you dont do this, the gas tube would have to drain into the barrel through a much smaller port.
