204 ruger ar

looking a something different with this build. Leaning towards a 204 ruger ar build. Any thoughts and help would be appreciated. This will be for target and varmits

I think with the 20 practical you can make brass out of 223/5.56 brass.

I am interested in this as well; I had originally planned on doing a .204 Ruger AR, then decided to do it in a bolt gun instead (an in-progress project). However, I am once again considering doing an AR in addition to the bolt gun; I already have a very nicely done (complete) lower, and it'd just be an upper (not that bad) and a scope (ouch).

I am also intrigued by the idea of a necked down 22 Nosler, though... call it a 20-22 Nosler. I think that would be the bee's knees...

I was also looking at the 204 recently. Like all things AR-15 I found quickly there are options for 20 caliber platforms. It's great, but sometimes I wish there was only one so I don't have to think . Anyway, started looking heavily at the 20x6.8. It's a rem 6.8spc case necked down to 20 caliber. The reason I'm considering this over the other options is I already have a 6x6.8 AR. I have the 6.8spc redding S die already and all I would need is the additional bushings and decapper for 20 cal. If I was starting from scratch I would have to seriously consider the 20 practical. Uses .223 brass, magazines, etc. However, since I'm setup for 6.8 that's that direction I will go if I decide to build yet another ar-15. I don't need another, but they are fun to build.

That's effectively what my proposed 20-22 Nosler would be... since the 22 Nosler is a 6.8 SPC case necked down to 22 caliber and with the rim rebated to .378".

Yeah a 22 nosler necked down would be a shooter for sure. Idk I've always loved the 204 and its always been a shooter.
