Got a buddy building a 30-06 AI to launch 208 Amax's. Anybody got any idea about what kind of speed this will produce ? I think he's building on a Savage-26 inch barrell-1/10 twist. Thanks for any info.
I do 2800 in a regular '06 w/ a 26" tube. You should be able to get much faster than that in AI configuration. Probably to about 2900. That being said, it WILL make you pay attention when it goes off and you WILL be going through some brass as in my experience the primer pockets give up the ghost before the brass does.
Thanks for the info. Looking to use this for 1000 yds as this caliber should do it a lot easier than 308 and not go to a magnum cartridge--already doing that with a 300wm. Thanks again.

With a 208 or 210 VLD you can drive it to a mile. 1K is a chip shot.
We shot the rifle today-looked good at 500 yds. It didn't help that the wind was running 10-20 mph but it looks promising so far. Thanks for the info again.
