the only reason not to do it is if it puts your zero at the bottom 1/3 of your total travel in your turrets. what application is this? what rifle and scope?
It also matters what your using this scope for and how much internal travel it has. Are you attempting to do some ELR work with this or what?
At this time I am not looking to do elr. It's a 6.5 Creed 26" AI. I ask only cause I have an extra mount lying around. The scope currently is a Bushnell XRS 4.5-30
Having 40 MOA shouldnt be an issue with that scope and ammo combo. I have a bushnell ERS 3.5-21 on a 6.5 and i have 28 MILS of travel after zero with just the factory 20 MOA rail and rings. U basically get about 6 mils more of travel per 20 MOA, but like i said just be careful cause you dont want the zero all the way at the bottom of travel, you want it some where right around a third of your total travel.
