Rifle Scopes 20MOA Scope rings, cant zero at 100 yards

So I trotted my brand spankin new Remington 700 300 WIn Mag out to the range today. The setup is in a Cadex Light Strike Chassis a Vortex Razor HD II 4.5-27 x56 EBR-2C optics and Sig Saure SOA10002 20 MOA Scope rings. When trying to zero I ran out of elevation. I had to AIM about 24 MOA low on target. I am brand new to this pastime and loved the rifle but it was really annoying that I couldn't just aim at what I was shooting at without having to compensate this much....Is this common? I plan to stretch out to 300-400 yards eventually...Thoughts, suggestions?

The cadex prob has moa built into the rail already. No reason you should be that far off with just 20 moa rings.
I have about 45-50 moa offset between my APO rail and my rings and I can still zero at 100.

Is the Vortex scope new or used? I’d guess that you hit the zero stop. Look up how to set the zero stop for your scope on U-tube.

Are you sure that those rings are 20 MOA? I do not see that mentioned on Sig Sauers site.

Well. I dont know how much of a difference this makes but the Cadex chassis has 20MOA built into the top rail

As it should. The 20 MOA has nothing to do with you not being able to zero your scope. The fact that you need to learn how to reset the zero stop does. This is not an attack on you. It’s just that this very same question has come up many times before and it always is due to the zero stop setting on the scope as received.

Please read your scope manual or go online and watch a couple of vids showing how to reset your zero stop. It will resolve your problem.

Assuming scope is mounted properly-it almost has to be scope and almost has to be zero stop.

If used previous owner may not have had 20moa built in making the zero at 100 yds about right if you're aiming 24 inches low. I see this all the time when I work the range.

This is likely your answer if the cadex has only 20 moa on the rail. I was thinking if it was a 40 rail plus the 20 on the rings that might put you 20ish off. I didn’t think about the zero stops.

To make adjustments:
1. Pull the windage or elevation turret knob outwards to disengage
the lock.
2. Turn the knob in the desired direction: up or down for elevation
adjustments; left or right for windage adjustments.
3. After the shot, return knobs to the zero position. The elevation
turret can simply be spun clockwise until reaching a hard stop
against the zero stop. Then, turn the elevation turret just slightly
(1/2 mrad or 1.25 MOA) in a counter-clockwise direction until the
0 mark on the cap lines up with the indicator mark on the turret
body.
4. Push turret knobs inwards to return to the locked position.
