I received a new barrel chambered in 22-6mm, 7 twist to shoot 90 gr vlds for an t/c Encore Pro Hunter but I can't get it to group. I have tried RL 15, RL 22, H1000, H4350, Winchester supreme 780, with different seating depths. Today I did some chamber measurements. The 6mm Remington case necked to 224 length is 2.225, using the Sinclair chamber length gage with the new barrel, length is 2.267 0.042 difference most other chambers I have measure show a difference of 0.004 to 0.006. My question from the hide shooters would this be the reason I have 2" plus accuracy. After firing the case goes into the barrel so far I have trouble ejecting the fired case. I need some expert advice.

Thanks,

You'll probably get better advice on a Thompson Center site. T/C's can be fickle beasts and in my experience are AT BEST moa guns, so 2 moa isn't too bad. Who made your barrel? Dennis Bellm likes to cut with lots of freebore. It's usually pretty tight but long so getting a bullet into the lands leaves little in the case. Usually experimenting with the foreend will yield more accuracy potential than load development. Shoot mild loads. Good luck.

It's a MGM barrel. I have 5 other barrels from MGM all shoot MOA or better. After 2 firings my case length is 2.258 new brass is 2.225. By the fourth I start getting some case separation. I guess I need to call MGM. Notice after 2 firings I am still 0.009 from end of chamber. I cant see trimming 0.015 off brass after each time I shoot. I really need a smith to answer my question if 0.042 is to much difference between case and chamber. After firing the case is in the barrel so far I can hardly eject it. And will this cause poor accuracy. The carbon build up is between the end of brass and end of chamber.

Thanks
