I am about to finish building out a .22 ARC AR for coyotes and foxes at night. I am scheduled to go to Florida in February on a hog hunt. I typically use a 6.8 SPC AR-15 or my .308 AR-10. Will the.22 ARC be effective on hogs out to about 300 yards or should I go ahead and build a .6mm ARC upper next. The .22 ARC is going to get a dedicated thermal later this year after taxes.

I think the 22arc super performance 70gr cx ammo would be good for that task. It’s running 2750 in my 12.5” ar. Haven't shot a pig with that combo yet. And I’m sure the 77tmk,75eld,88eld will work well to.
I did shoot a 180lb hog yesterday at 280yds with a 90gr SMK, got a full pass through with alot of blood. Hog only made it 50yds. But that was at 3100mv from my 22creed.
I know 6mm 85gr Barnes at 2900fps blow right through the few 150lb hogs I’ve shot within 150yards

Has anyone found a ballistic app that has the .22 ARC data in it? I have Strelok Pro, Ab Quantum, Shooter, and the Kestrel Balistics app and none show the. 22 ARC as an option. Are you just using a similar bullet say Hornad 60 gr Amax and adjusting the data to make it work for the 62 gr ELD VT?
The only thing that matters is bullet and velocity. I use Strelol Pro and you can either pick a cartridge or bullet. Either way you should Chrono your rifle.
My consensus for what it’s worth,
You will have more runners with the lighter projectiles.
At 100y, anything will work.
200y, the .224s are good, not great
300y, the 6mm and 7.62 are preference
400y, the 7.62 would be top choice for energy alone based on your recs
Pigs aren’t impervious, but I have witness some very weird results even with a 7.62 and the right projectiles.
Personally, I would run what you already have unless you hunt pigs frequently. You’re already good to go for yotes.
