I'm looking at getting a marlin xt-22 and was wondering if anyone knows a ball park estimate on how much it would be to have a gunsmith thread the barrel for a suppressor?

I called around, and I can't find anyone who carries or can order the marlin xt-22rz

Thanks!

Re: 22 bolt action suppressed?

Depends... Do you want a cheap throwaway gun or something a little nicer?

I have a CZ-455 (new 452 with 10/22style swappable barrels and caliber changes). I cut it down to 16 and threaded for the Sparrow SS / Spectre2 o-ring engagement spec and that little rifle is probably my favorite 22 ever!

The CZs are real rifle quality with 22 pricing. IMO, the Savage, Marlin, Mossberg or whoever are all cheap in price and quality. The Ruger 77/22 is another example of a real rifle scaled down but they aren't cheap.

Cost for performance, styling, wood, options, function, I really haven't seen anything better than the CZ. Unless its lost in a fire or stolen, the one I have is a gun my grand kids will shoot one day.

Re: 22 bolt action suppressed?

Nothing wrong with the Savage in terms of quality and accuracy though it doesn't really compare to he CZ in terms of fit/finish.

threading the barrel should be the same regardless of if it's a savage, martin or CZ...around 100-150 bucks

Since you don't have the gun yet, consider getting a Savage or CZ that is already threaded...you'll get a better gun and won't have to worry about finding someone to thread it.

What seanh said. That's why I bought my daughter a M&P 15-22, she take the flash hider off and screw on my AAC Element.

Re: 22 bolt action suppressed?

i have a 77/22 and love it! threading should run around $100 depending on the place, and anything else you have done. mine is awesome with a YHM mite, and CCI subs. bullet impact into a furry object it 2-3x the noise of firing

Re: 22 bolt action suppressed?

Fuck Ruger. My 77/22 is out of commission because they won't sell me a firing pin...a fucking $5 part. I can't send them the gun, because AWC built it up and I'm not doing a Form 5 to send it to them - plus they said they would replace any modified parts - which means my $150 trigger job is gone.

I reiterate: Fuck Ruger.

Re: 22 bolt action suppressed?

Thread that sucker. Hooper Ordnance did my CZ455, 888-249-0884. $100. It will cost more for the thread protector (about $40?). But I went for a vortex flash hider instead of a conventional thread protector for the cool factor. Accurate Ordnance also has a great reputation on the Hide and they have good turn around times

Re: 22 bolt action suppressed?

I actually just bought a Marlin XT-22rz. Mine came factory threaded 1/2x28. For $200 I figured I coulndn't go wrong. Haven't shot it yet to see how accurate it is, but I'm sure it should shoot decent. Now, the hard part is waiting for my stamp to come back for my Huntertown arms Guardian 22 can. Should be here in July according to the ATF.
