22 long rifle ammo that decays

I have a friend that works at an Outdoor shop. They sell the latest gadgets, firearms, ammo, clothing, gun safes, etc. He said last week
that a delivery came in that consisted of Remington brand 22 long rifle ammo. Upon inspection, there was a hole in the center of
the rim that appeared to look like some kind of pellet pushed in the hole. He was told that the pellet would start to breakdown over time
actually making the ammo useless. I`m going to post picture of ammo as soon as I can figure out how to. Has anybody heard about this?

Call remington directly and ask what's up. Remington has always had great CS with regards to getting questions answered.

He is wrong. There cannot be a "hole' in the head of the case.

Remington does not sell ammo with a shelf-life.

I'm wondering if it's a similar setup as some russian match ammo where there was a deep dimple in the base of the case. This dimple helped to distribute the primer compound more evenly into the rim.

And what sort of plug would stand 45,000 psi, And be "degradable" over time without causing a huge liability issue for Remington?
I'm calling BS without a lot of proof.

22 long rifle chamber pressure is around 25,000-30,000. Not 45,000. As soon as I see him and get one of the cartridges, I`ll post pics.

Oh boy....here we go again. The oldest rumor out there since the first primer shortage of '93.
I am not a scientist, chemist, engineer, nor did I stay at a Holday Inn express recently. I can be fairly confident in this staement however; There is nothing they can do to a cartridge to make it expire at a certain future date, that will not make it dangerous or dead "right now". Rest easy and find some real news.

Ok I am ignorant now, I have been called worse. Actually when this rumor was started the first time back in the early 90's, with talk of tagants and "expiring ammo" it was the people who do this shit for a living that came out and allayed the rumor mongers fears. The industry itself issued a statement. I have not searched for it but this was long before the internet. What I said was almost verbatim what was said by those who know. Just to be on the safe side how bout this:
Unless there has been some ground breaking, secret squirrel type chemistry geek shit going on in the components industry, expiring ammo(or components) is an ugly assed rumor.
I suspect that the liability risk alone would keep them from doing this kind of shit to components, even if they could. I added the "dangerous" part for a reason.
Another thing you have to consider. Making it go bad today but not yesterday?
Hell all they really have to do is spread the rumor and get enough people to believe it, until people like me are shouted down on the internet for telling people the ammo is fine, that date means nothing. This is how they have people believing the date on canned goods means they aren't safe to eat. I had a hell of a time convincing my wife not to throw away some "year past the date" canned goods about 5 years ago.
Propaganda is how people are brainwashed, but then I am a bit ignorant, so you can't expect me to believe rumors I have been hearing for 20 YEARS.

As a matter of fact....here is another reason I hate rumors like this.
We have enough fucking problems with ammo availability already. How about more people buying ammo because of a rumor that "new" ammo has a shelf life. Again this same shit happened back in 93 with primers, "You better buy all you can now cause the "new" ones have shit ine em that makes em go bad." That bullshit actually entered MY ears at a gunshow more than once from 93-95.

Does anyone else remember this? Help me out here, I am ignorant but I ain't crazy. I heard it in '03, '08 and now again in '13. Or am I just making shit up? I'm the only person who has heard this rumor for 2 decades?

It is 100% absolutely true!! They do have this ammo and it is now required that every new ammo purchase have this in it!

I have (10) 500-rnd bricks of "pre-self-destroying" RWS R50 for sale at $10,000 per brick!

Obviously that was sarcasm and meant for a laugh. You're not crazy apc, I remember it too... it pops up every now and then just like the "taggant" crap so "they" can trace the lot number of ammo.
