Okay fellas, I have a sparrow that's rated for mag and 17 hmr. I threaded my 17 hmr and yeah it's not the quietest but I have no regrets on threading . I have a 10/22 mag and considering threading but curious what the reports going to be like. I hate to de value the ruger anyways, it's like new with dual extractors. I don't shoot it much but thought I might if it were suppressed, I love to shoot my 10/22 lr suppressed. Thanks again.

Re: 22 mag suppressed.

not much suppression, I have a sparrow and a my father has a 22mag with a threaded barrel and no can. We put the two together and shot it compared to my 17hmr and since there is no such thing as a subsonic 22 mag ( that I am aware of). It muffed the pop but then there was the ever present sonic crack. Unless you are just dieing to thread it, I wouldn't waste the money or value of the 22 mag 10/22. This is just my opinion though

Re: 22 mag suppressed.

I shoot several .17HMR's and .22 magnums mostly with my AWC raiders one steel and one Ti and I think it works great. Yes supersonic is supersonic I think everyone knows that but great for Pdogs and plinking. PG

Re: 22 mag suppressed.

why would someone want to suppress a .223/308/338/50? you still knock down the noise of expanding gasses which makes it harder to hear at distance. the sonic crack is just one piece of the gunshot puzzle.

Re: 22 mag suppressed.

Thanks for the thoughts, I like to suppress so I don't need to wear hearing protection. yes you still have the crack but you don't have all that noise right there. I never shoot my 308 without shark attached anymore. I know we are getting away from original question that was asked.

Re: 22 mag suppressed.

Don't waste your time threading it for use with the Sparrow. I own one also they are excellent on 22 lr's but loud and bad groups on the mags. I own an AWC Stalker for my 22 mags ,this is one incredible can for rimfire magnums. It will quieten my Ruger 17/22 mag. to less than the Sparrow on a 22lr.Also holds excellent POA/POI consistantly. Good luck.

I'm thinking mouse fart quiet. Of course if I shot a canon I would suppress it.
