Re: .22 Tactical Match COF

Stages 7 to 12 are the same each match.
Nobody has shot a perfect score on stages 7 to 12.
(60 hits in a row from 125 yards and out)
some stages have been shot perfect but not all in a row.

We put a paper plate with the target # spray painted with black on a wood stake near each target to eliminate target confusion.

Re: .22 Tactical Match COF

I have been somewhat interested in this type of match as well. Just to get more shooting time in and different styles. I suck at offhand and unsupported.

What kind of rifles does everyone tend to build? I would think a heavy barrel 40x or annie would get pretty heavy trying to hold it still and shoot something.

But obviously you still want accuracy as well so Im just curious.

Thanks

UKD with no sighters makes cleans on those stages very difficult. Even with sighters, some of those stages would be extremely difficult, especially beyond 125 yards.

Re: .22 Tactical Match COF

The ~(approximate) distance to target is so we don't dink around trying to get exact distances. We just put the targets out.
Lasers are ok to use, range finding is not part of the comp and sharing distances is ok.

The most common rifles are 10/22's and Savage MkII's,but some Cz's, Sako Quads and Marlin's and Anshutz.

The 1/2 size IDPA steel targets are 3/16 rather than 1/4 thick.
They will cup but move better at 225 and 250 yards when hit. These are the only silhouettes, the rest are rectangles.

Use this as a starting point, so you can put on a match in your area.

We also do paper matches at 50 and 100 yards.
Will post details on these later.
We don't go past 100 yards on paper because of the difficulty of seeing holes on the paper.

If you find someplace that is, please reply back here. I would be interested in trying a COF such as this.

Re: .22 Tactical Match COF

The point of this is so y'all can start a local match.

Any target inside 200 yards should be 1/4 inch thick.
It does not have to be AR steel.
We're using both hot and cold rolled steel and there is no diff between them as far as targets go.

Since they are hung on chains on each side, any target inside 110 yards has a stake behind it. This is to stop the semi-auto guys from flipping the target
(the semi-auto guys will hit the target as it swings back and will flip the target so it won't hang true in the chains)

I just went to 'Freds's Sheet Metal' and dug through their scrap pile to find target materials.

Re: .22 Tactical Match COF

I'm out. Just to far to drive.
Sounds like a good time Aquatic Robot.
But have been slowly building and buying targets for a .22 lr match here in the Missouri headwaters area of Montana

Re: .22 Tactical Match COF ideas

The above run and gun is a fun match.

The shooter is followed by a Safety Officer similar in fashion to IDPA, USPSA, 3 gun.

Just to make sure the shooter is being safe and to make sure they follow the COF
