Any barrel that will stabilize 80SMKs, or preferrably 80JLKs, will work to beyond 1000. That means either a straight-8, or better yet a 1 in 7.
My 22" 7-twist shoots 80JLKs at 2820fps with 24.5 RE15 or 2840fps with 24.0 H4895.
And the 90's suck: In a .223 you can't push them fast enough to take advantage of the higher BC. </div></div>
The Tikka does have a straight 1:8 twist.... My Tikka performs best with heavier bullets 75-77gr. I haven't tried anything heavier because I don't handload. To answer the ops question you will need an AI .223 Rem magazine to feed your Tikka the heavier grain bullets. I have my Tikka in a KRG whiskey chassis with an AI .223 Rem magazine. Hope that helps.
