22BR Loads

I’m kicking around the idea of building a 22BR for Varmint hunting. I want to shoot the heavy 80-88gr bullets. I plan to use either Lapua or Peterson 6BR Brass and neck it down. What’s everyone’s loads using these heavy bullets in the 22BR? Planning to use/try IMR 8208, IMR 4166, Varget, H4350, and RL16. I’m hoping for 3000-3050FPS with the 88 ELD from a 26” barrel without excessive pressure. Thanks

We are currently in load dev. with 88gr ELD-M and SMK 95gr.
Using H4350, Varget and soon RL16.
So far we tried
H4350 between 28 and 30gr
Varget between 27.5 and 28.5gr

We are running around 2950fps without pressure sign, but got some donuts trouble we just taked care that slowed down our test. We will be back on it soon, but it's a good idea so far. Hope it help you

Yeah quite a while.
I still run my 22br for PRS matches, I got couple loads I like:
88gr ELDM with varget: between 28.8 and 29.1gr, 2990fps, jump by about 0.150 th. Work really well
95gr SMK with H4350: Around 30.3gr at 2925fps, 0.010jam in the land.

So far, those are my favorite loads.

Just to clarify, jumping 88s 0.150 thou or 0.015 thou? Also on the 95smk, I take it you mean jamming 0.010? Jamming 0.100 I don't know the bolt would close.

How long is your freebore? I have 130k in my 22br, and anything more than 65k jump with 88s, the bearing surface is below neck shoulder junction.

I have a 150fb.
The 88gr bullet boat tail is way below the neck junction. But it groups everyday 1/2 MOA, have excellent SD/ES, and can stand the same group and speed without cleaning for 500rounds. So I keep it this way. Also, no need to change the OAL during the life of the barrel, it shoots the same.

I have a 150fb.

I only have 150 rounds on mine, still breaking it in. I have 88s, 90smk, 85.5 Bergers and a bunch of 90 atips to play with.
