Curious what kind of accuracy one might expect from a dedicated 22LR upper. While I don't expect it to be an Anschutz or even as good as my FV-SR, I'd like a little better than minute-of-milkjug @ 50 yards.

Specifically I'm considering the CMMG 16" A3 upper but I don't have my heart set on any particular make/model.

Thanks!

Have had good accuracy from the Nordic components upper I'm using. The best thing is it runs in addition to being accurate. With good ammo it will do 1 to 1.5" at 100. At 200 it opens up to 2 moa, with the odd group under 2".

Re: 22LR AR upper accuracy?

I just shot a buddy's CMMG this weekend. It was slightly picky with ammo but seems to run federal bulk pack just fine and it did run my remmy subs without failure. It even cycled with those, which surprised me a bit. His was damn accurate, it was very fun to plink with.

The best thing i'd advise is to polish the contact surfaces of the carrier as well as the feed ramp, and clean the chamber really well (try the brush in a drill trick). CMMG's coating (looks like manganese phosphate to me) is a little rough and that seemed to cause some hangups early in the life of this upper. However, it is running well now that the coating has been worn down.

I have a dedicated AR in 22LR, I am running a Tac Sol on a Sun Devil lower and I am loving it. Absolutely no hick ups I hold off the bench less than 1" groups at 50yds. I really like the quality of Tactical Solutions equipment.

What kinda ammo have you gotten that accuracy with?

My experience with a TacSol upper was quite similar - it was extremely accurate and would eat just about any ammo I threw at it.

The only thing that I didn't like about the TacSol setup was the fact I could only get it to run with a standard AR15 trigger. Aftermarket two-stage setups would not work.

Re: 22LR AR upper accuracy?

CCI subsonic, CCI green tag, Elley Club (yellow box), Elley Match (Black box). Granted the Elley match is kind of pricy for just plinking but if it has to be hit then this works. The Yellow box was almost as good at 1/2 the price. Wolf subsonic was hit and miss, pun intended, I'd get a nice group then not so much. The Elley sport worked well in my pistol, but I had several go supersonic and hit high out of the rifle.

I love my Nordic Components upper. I just use mine for plinking. Never ran any match ammo in it, just federal bulk.
