    Out there somewhere
How many different chambers do you know and what cartridge and rifle associated with it? I'm not new to 22lr but feel like I am, just learning about the subtle differences in chambers and am wanting more knowledge.. I hope this may be useful to other Hide rimfire nuts as well.

slow day at the office....time to kill...wandering the web...

Below is a chart shown in two parts to make it more legible. It doesn't include all the "chambers" currently in use.

As a point of interest, the Winchester 52D chamber is often called the "tightest". It's not, but it is the shortest.

Do you or anyone happen to know any rifles, particularly current ones that use any specific chamber or chamber that uses a specific cartridge?

Factory rifles generally aren't available with custom chambers. They will have, depending on their place of origin, either a SAAMI sporting chamber, a SAAMI match chamber (SAAMI has one of each), or a CIP chamber. SAAMI standards are generally followed by North American firearms manufacturers; CIP standards are for most European countries, among others.

Keep in mind that for both SAAMI and CIP the dimensions are the minimum allowed, particularly for the match chambers. For example, the CZ match chamber available on a few CZ 457 models is not necessarily as small as CIP standards allow.

The CIP dimensions, below, followed by SAAMI Match dimensions (.22 LR Match in the chart above).

Great information, I knew there was a lot more tech involved stuff going on for the simple little 22lr cartridge.
Are there any specific cartridges that are favored for specific chambers and/or twist rates? I have been seeing guys sending their rifles to Lapua for testing but I still feel like I am missing something.

It's kind of odd, but even though the 22RF reamer chart shown above appears in my PTG "The Gunsmith's Book of Chamber Prints", and shows PTG's Ultimate EPS reamer w/o a belt to cut a rim recess, my Ultimate EPS reamer from them most certainly did include such a belt. The only other 22RF reamers I own are a Nevius and Win M52D Match, both from JGS. The Nevius has no belt, and can be run into the bore to cut a chamber of whatever length the shooter needs to obtain the amount of land engraving on bullets that he or she prefers. The Nevius cuts a 1-30* leade specifically to work best with SK/Lapua, while the other two mentioned both cut a 2* leade. All but one of the custom barrels I've chambered were done with the EPS reamer - that one exception being a Shilen in R5 contour on my V-22S. I've shot some Eley Match EPS and Tenex in some of the barrels chambered with the EPS reamer, and had some very good results out to 200yds - generally better than what I've seen with even good lots of Lapua Center-X. But that flat EPS bullet nose doesn't feed nearly as smoothly as roundnose ammo does (and the same can be said for SK Flatnose). In some cases, the flatnose stuff doesn't feed at all. I do intend to at least try some of the EPS in the Nevius chamber, even though Kevin says his chamber isn't as tolerant when it comes to shooting other brands as the EPS chambers generally are. But without access to a 50yd indoor range and will all the unsettled spring weather we've been having, it's been very tough to get any 22RF shooting done with any hope of getting meaningful results...

Also wondering like for example, what a Bergara B14R, or any other current rifle uses? I am curious due to hearing different ones tossed around on threads and will soon be ordering a custom .22.

Bergara claimed to use a modified bentz. Slight amount of engraving on a chambered round. It could be tighter, and they've started sponsoring shooters that are talking to them about some changes with the barrel and chambers.

If it's an auto, you're going to get a bentz in some form generally.

Just order a vudoo and rest assured it will love sk and lapua.

Bergara uses a Bentz chamber on the BXR semi-auto .22 rimfire. The Bergara B14R bolt action rifle uses a CIP chamber.
