.22LR Slope Dope?

Hello,

I missed two squirrels with seven shots. Given that I'd been getting nothing but head shots until I started shooting at more extreme angles out to 75 to 100 yards, I can pretty much narrow it down to a misunderstanding of slope dope.

I can find formulas for high powered rifle cartridges, but nothing for the .22LR 40gn.

Can someone direct me to a chart? I have background in higher math, and just need to see how the chart and math relate to each other before applying it.

I would suggest you do it yourself with your equipment and your ammo. There are way too many variables for a reliable. across the board table.

Doesn't matter what you are shooting. Must be some extreme angles to be making a real difference at those ranges even with a .22 or something else is responsible for the misses.

exactly.

Doesn't matter if it's a .338LR or a BB gun. It's all about how gravity works and the geometry of the problem.

That's why cosine charts don't need to have a caliber listed.

NOW a flat shooting caliber will not have as great of a need for an angle correction as a steep dropping caliber, but they will both be affected the same.

Looks like I have the cosine chart in my sniper's manual.

I didn't think it would make much difference on the .22lr, but I'm working out one factor at a time.

Time to concentrate on me. I am simply not used to shooting from a sitting position at a steep angle.

could be the fact that you are shooting at a squirrel at 75-100 yards too might have something to do with the misses. add and extreme angle to it, and i wish you luck!
