I realize that there a benefits too each. The 260 has bullets that have a higher BC than the 243. While the 243 has a lot more options in terms of brass.

My question is: is the 260 better bottom line vs the 243 from 0-1000 meters in terms of accuracy?

Also this is probably going to show my ass but can you re barrel a 243 to a 260 like you can re barrel a 308 to a 260?

It seems to me that you don't need to push the 260's as hard as the 243's, so barrel life should be longer, 140 VLDs will be my pill of choice. 260 brass can be made from 243 and 7-08 brass very easily, so its just a one time extra step. 243 260 7-08 308 all have the same bolt face, the cartridges are all about the same length, so rebarreling is no problem at all. Accuracy is in the user behind the rifle, an excellent marksman shooting a .308 should always be able to out shoot a good one shooting anything else.

Agreed.

.260 or .243, not nearly as important as the amount of time you spend working with your rifle

What is the BC on the 140VLD's for the 260? Nice brass is nice to have. You can reform, or use Remington for 260 brass, or do what you have to do. Or, you can dial Lapua, Norma, Nosler and get better brass without the "one extra" step.

The 260 is not more accurate than the 243. In fact, one could argue that it is less accurate at 1000 due to the need for more wind hold.

308 is the parent case to all the cartridges named so the answer to that question is yes.
