Per the subject I am more than likely going to be building an AR-15 Upper Receiver Assembly in one of the above chamberings. From the research I have gathered I understand that they are basicaly the same cartridge with minor differences in the neck diameter of the chamber and the dimensions and angle of the throat.
More specifically I am going to be putting this upper receiver together strictly for a Hunting Gun, primarily for Whitetail Deer and Coyotes to be used by not only myself but also by my petite wife and grandkids. I have pretty much decided on a 18" Barrel and insist on it being stainless-steel (I am a stainless-steel fanattic, what can I say).
Both barrels I am looking at are roughly the same price (18" .264 LBC AR Stoner Barrel from Midway USA $329.99 or a 18" 6.5 Grendel Alexander Arms $320.00). Both barrels include the bolt with the barrel.
I have the upper receiver I am going to use, a DPMS FLat Top Low Pro Classic slick side upper and will more than likely use a DPMS Carbon Fiber Free Float Tube to keep weight down.
Which barrel would you go with and why considering this is to be a Hunting AR?
Thanks
Larry
