Not sure if anyone here is slinging lead with the old 264 winchester, but I've found an excellent load to share if so. I have an old 98 mauser that was imported and sporterized sometime after ww1. My godfather won it in the 70s at an American legion turkey shoot, and has been hunting with it ever since. He came to me, stating he couldn't hit a dinner plate anymore, and sure enough the barrel was shot. I had a local Smith install an 8 twist lija for him.
I Worked up a load with the 142 accubond lr pushed by RL33. Settled on 73 grains in nosler brass lit by a cci large rifle mag primer. Seating depth tests started at .080 off, where it shot just at an inch. I tested. 050, and then .020. At .020 I was able to fire several 3 shot groups under 3/4 moa. Velocity is 3235 fps. Here's my best group of the day. Should do the job nicely.
