Put this into the bolt action section I guess that was the wrong section. Alright need some info guys this year on my Nebraska hunting trip I had a misfire out of my 270 Win Browning A-bolt. I had this happen about 3 years ago on a hunt and it has never done until this year. Prinably somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-150 rounds since it last did this. How hard is it to pull these bolts apart? I figured I would start with a good cleaning and inspection of the bolt. I later retried shooting the cartridge and it fired that time first time there was just a real light strike mark on the primer. Thanks for any help

Re: 270 Browning Abolt

Maybe temperature related. Do you use oil or grease inside the bolt? If cold related, clean the inside of the bolt and spring, et.al. with naptha (lighter fluid) and either leave it bare for the hunt or just a tiny wipe of synthetic ATF on the spring, pin and inside the bolt. Also check for residue inside the bolt where the firing pin stop hits. A bit of debris such as carbon or a powder granule can cause a light strike.

Re: 270 Browning Abolt

Thanks, gun fired next round installed, don't think it is related to gelding of oil or grease, next morning shot a buck in 15 degree weather. I am going to go with tearing down the bolt and cleaning it and inspecting for debris. will definitely go back with the synthetic lube though thanks agin
