Hunting & Fishing 280ai or 284 win long range hunting rig

Hello first post and a new member here.

As the title says can’t decide
between the two. I figure the 280 ai would be better for speed and if I got in a bind I could find 280 ammo fairly easy. I don’t see much of a reason to go 284. Planning to use 180 bergers or the new Hornady eld

I think your on the right track. Especially if it’s a switchlug type rifle. More variety.
Check out copper creeks 280ai and 6.5-284 loads. Not that they couldn’t do others for you just to try out a variety.
Hornady precision hunter ammo also has 280 rem, and I think they’re adding 280ai.
Nosler might still load it also or have brass available.

I plan to reload for it and use Nosler brass. Using a Remington 700 for the action. My thought is I could still use 280 ammo if something happened when I’m on a trip.

Yes that’s an option but may yield a decrease in accuracy and thus effective range. Maybe not enough to worry. Hard to know until you try.
For those trips, that’s why you keep ammo stashed every where in vehicles, gun cases, travel bags etc so you’ll always have some somewhere.

I doubt anything would happen but to me it’s nice to have both options.
