Hi all

I am looking to get a rifle built up from a sako 75 action and like to know any feed back of the 284 winchester or may be getting a 308.
Will be target shooting and hunting with it.
Thanks

Not sure what the policy of posting links to external forums is but may I point you in the direction of http://ukvarminting.com/forums/index.php?act=idx

There is a lot to be said about what is used in your locality.

the .284 Shehane is well supported in the UK F-class scene right now. I must say the .284 and the .308 are rather different in real terms.

I don't know what your reloading experience is but a small moto of mine is. "every one should have a .308 in the cabinet (safe)"

You would struggle to find .284 in a local dealer in the UK but .308 is on every corner.

Re: 284 winchester

Man that .284 is a good round I shoot matches with a guy that shoots one he is a constant threat with it. and you know when he hits a target. 180 VLDs is his flavor.

Re: 284 winchester

I have used a straight .284 for several years with more than a fair amount of success. The rifle never fails to perform well whether 400 or 1,000 yards. I am very happy with the performance of the .284 & will absolutely have the rifle re-barreled in .284.

Re: 284 winchester

Thanks for the info about the 284, I picked up a sako 75 in 243 getting it rebarrled to a 308 and see how i get on , my uncle has the same rifle and gets on well with it. I will look in to the 284 next year, it looks a very good round up to 1000 yrds but i will need some practice to get my eye in.
Thanks
