You all gave me a bunch of good advice for a bolt action build a little while back. I was debating between 30-06 and 280. 30-06 won based on availability and the fact that I already have everything to load for that round. Criterion only offers one chamber for 30-06 and it is a hunting chamber. I will be reloading bullets from 178 gr Hornady hpbt (because I have tons of them) to 230 grain bullets. What reamer should I buy to have criterion use on my barrel? I have heard of the Serengeti reamer. Any others? Who is best to buy it from? PT&G has a 8-12 week lead time for a Serengeti reamer.
Additionally, what twist rate should I get? 1 in 10 or 1 in 8?
Thanks in advance for all your expertise.

highly recommend the serengeti reamer, its the best match for Lapua brass and 175-210 grain bullets. It will stil shoot the 230's, but if you planned on 220-230gr exclusively I would have the throat lengthened a bit. 1:10 twist will do everything you need.

Thanks. I was a little worried about the twist with the heavies. From what I have read the Serengeti seems to be optimized for 190 to 210 bullets which is what I will mostly be shooting but I wanted a little wiggle room with bullet weight.

My custom target rifle is in .30-06 and the reamer my smith used is an obermyer. I sent him 2 cartridges loaded with 208 amaxes and it’s a laser with the heavies. It tolerates the 190s and it likes the 178s. I wanted the sarenghetti chamber but he didn’t have it and I wasn’t going to wait on PTG for it. From my understanding there isn’t a whole lot of difference between the two.
