Suppressors 30 cal can on a magnum

I’ve been meaning to call huntertown about my can to see if I can run it on my 300 win mag but forgot this past week.

The main reason I ask is because they make a “308” (which I own) and a “300 wm” suppressor.

Would it really overpressure and cause failure in the suppressor, or is there just a different design to the 300 wm suppressor that makes it more effective?

Curious if anyone has asked this of a manufacturer before? I won’t hold you to your answer without calling them, but I’m really curious to know.

It has to do with the construction of the can and it being able to withstand those pressures while firing. I have a Rugged Surge and it’s rated for 300 RUM, but it’s a tank, high is probably how it can handle the pressure.

I may be mistaken but IIRC Huntertown has either closed up or is in that process? This came from another forum. I have no contact or experience with them.

Yea wouldn’t surprise me, there’s a lot of nicer cans on the market. It was $600 so I didn’t break the bank on it and it’s a good rugged can, just wanted to know it’s limits

OP, while the TBAC Ultras have a long history with WM and RUM cases I would NOT assume that another manufacturers can will unless they publish that your can has been tested for your cartridge.

Im running a YHM 338 can on my 300WM TRG, and it works like a charm. heavy....but so is the rifle.

I think it’s safe to say that if they made a dedicated magnum can, they weren’t 100% about the 308 can handling the charge

I’ve got a SAS Arbiter that is rated up to .300 RUM. I shoot it on one of my .300 Win mags on a regular basis. Haven’t had one issue. I also have all my rifles threaded for the TOMB system which is AWESOME. I’m shooting from a 5.56 , .308 Win, 6.5 creedmor and .300 Win mag.

Dad an issue with blowing baffles on my SilenerCo 30 can with 300 Norma Mag. They fixed free of charge but now I run my Big Bore.

Yea I called and the number was already disconnected. I emailed but no response.

They are SS conical baffle inserts so I feel like there would be no way to blow it, but didn’t want to push my luck. There’s about 10,000 PSI difference between a 178 308 and a 190 300 I believe if I remember from hodgdons website.

I’ve run an Omega on a 300wm and just bought a Thunderbeast, but both are specifically rated for WM. I personally wouldn’t chance it on a can that has a designated WM variant separate from their 30 cal cans. My dad launched his SiCo off his muzzle when he got a baffle strike, I’d hate to experience an overpressured can.

I hope your dad’s gat is ok. Baffle strikes are scary, and dangerous. I saw a can where the bullet exited the side of the can at who knows what angle. You are giving sound advice to OP. Don’t risk your gun or your life or the life of someone around you.
