Just realized there's no pinned 300 BLK thread in the reloading page.

Let's build up some info for future loaders, both with Supers and Subs. Favorite powders and projectiles.

My powders of choice are currently H110, Lil'Gun and CFE BLK. Currently trying to use up all of my CFE BLK as it burns HOT and my sub loads aren't as quiet of a tone compared to H110 or Lil'Gun.

Favorite bullets are currently the 115gr SMK, 125gr TGK and 220gr SMK. 125gr range is absolute money when it comes to hunting whitetail deer and SBR length barrels. 110-115gr bullets make good speed and perform well but these 125's hit hard and penetrate well.

I use IMR 4227 for both sub and super. Sub gives me 1040 ft/sec velocity, while the supers are around 1984 with a single-digit Standard Deviation. Haven't figured out how to get better SD's in subs, currently around 20, but I don't really care much about SD's in subsonic ammo since I only use those in an AR pistol and always at close range. For subs, the group size at 25 yards matters way more than any low SD. Only on the second firing, and taking my pile of fairly new Starline brass all the way through a firing before starting on the next.

I'm helping a buddy setup a rig for deer hunting, here in our state of suck it is the only legal bottleneck cartridge legal to use as well as in a bolt action setup...we are deep behind enemy lines as the gas guns are currently in limbo. I personally am not a deer hunter but tinkering with handloads is my cup of tea.

Being on a somewhat budget we built it off a Savage 110 action and a 9tw 24" Bartlein in a Bravo, with the intention of sticking only with strictly supers, once again...suppressors are also a no go.

Only tested one charge weight, powder and bullet as a a quick "break in" and to get optic somewhat zeroed for actual load development.

18.8 gr H110 with a 110 vmax @ 2.1 yielded an avg of 2460 fps, I am suspecting he could reach 2600 fps towards the top of charge ladder. The 24" barrel is producing much higher speeds vs the test lengths used in the load manuals as suspected. Will report back as move up into the 125gr and possibly 150 gr.

9" BCM

110 V-Max Factory 2130 ft/secs SD 8

110 V-Max Win 296 2240 ft/secs SD 18

115 Berger FB W 296 2088 ft/secs SD 12

125 Nosler BT Lil Gun 2070 ft/secs SD 34

155 Sierra (2155) Lil Gun 1862 ft/secs SD 10

175 SMK AA 1680 1070 ft/secs SD 26

208 A-Max AA 1680 1031 ft/secs SD 12

220 Sig Factory 1035 ft/secs SD 14

220 Lapua IMR 4227 1031 ft/secs SD 4 (Favorite for quiet)

Working with my second 9" BCM and it is slightly faster, but prefers Lil Gun to W 296 with supers.

Hoping to contribute to this thread....soon.

Hopefully those contributions won't be in the form of comedy due to demolition pics of baffle strikes, squibs, double charges and other goofball moves that I will attempt to avoid.

Finally got my first can this week....mounted optics on two new .300 BO rifles......have powders, primers, shiny new brass and a small assortment of bullets. What could go wrong ???

Running into a snag.

I'd like to get rolling with the components I have on hand but am not finding the exact load data to mate up with what I'm most interested in trying.

For example....I have a pile of 220gr Blue Bullets (coated cast ) and several pounds of Shooters World Blackout. Haven't found load data specific for these together.

I did, however, find data for those bullets & H110. I loaded a few yesterday, hopefully to try out this afternoon.
Figured if nothing else they'd be somewhat useful in getting optics zeroed.

Hopefully I can get onto some solid data using the SW Blackout powder.

I'm confident it will work well with subsonic loads. I've seen where it is compared with 1680.....but am without confirmation of a 1:1 charge weight relationship. Very apprehensive with reduced loads in the first place.

Have a few of these to trail as well.

May add some Berry's 220gr, too.

Friggin' hell.

Don't know if I'm going to get to the range today or not.

I was getting my gear together an hour ago. Intended to use the rifle case that my AR-10 was currently in.
Stood there with case in hand, unzipped it....removed velcro that was joining the handle loops....reached for the handle loop but unknowingly only grabbed one.....rifle fell directly onto my foot....BUIS smacked down right on it.

Fortunately I've yet to mount anything on it other than those irons.

Unfortunately 45 minutes of icing hasn't done much for the immediate swelling.

Fukkin' dumbass.
Mad as hell, but not as mad as I would have been had the intended ATACR been on top. Not wanting to drop test the Nightforce.

Get in a rush and do dumb sh!t and win dumb prizes. Fukkin' moron.

To hell with it....I'll leave the shoes unlaced....might as well wear a flat brim ball cap....and wear my belt below my arse. Wonder if I can pull off the look of a mid-50's wannabe rap artist....
They know me too well there....I'll just have to limp and b!tch about it. Fit right in if it is senior citizen day.

Sub load: Starline Brass, 190gr Hornady Sub-X over 8.2gr's of High Gun. MV of 1055fps per my Lab Radar.

10.5' barrel

Granted, I've only returned to reloading a year ago following a 25 year absence...I hand't heard of High Gun powder.
Looked it up...and there it was.

I've seen Clays and other "shotgun" powders used in cartridge recipes....first time seeing High Gun.
