Ok so have 10 rounds down my barrel and I'm averaging 2954fps with 215berger and retumbo at 84.3gr. Barrel is 26 inch 10 twist. Starting to get flattened primers. Does that seem like a good velocity with the number of rounds I have down the barrel? That's far from 3100fps I'm seeing others get.

Thats a great fps i got 2 300nm one shoot 215 aswell other 230s.the 215 from my proof 24" im getting 2945 with h1000 great accuracy..it started as 2906 same load. It will speed 50-75 after 150-+ rounds

Lowlight, if you're faster than mine using 230s would you think mine should be faster with 215s? Thanks
With my 6.5x47 the 135 jlk 41 gr h4350 even 005 of land you would think it should be faster than 140hyb 40.80gr same lot powder..nop its 60-65 FPS slower lol..i thought it was probably design of the bullets since jlk are secant.BUT im not sure what going on :) theres better explanation i bet

I wouldnt use primers as a gauge for pressure if you’re shooting virgin brass. It accentuates the flat primer. My batch of Norma brass is .004 shorter than my go gauge. I headspaced my rifle to GO+.001. So my virgin brass has .005” of headspace. The primers are pretty flat but no sign of craters or piercing. As long as the bolt opens without being sticky, I’m good. If you have a headspace comparator, knock the primers of the fired cases and compre their headspace dimension to the virgin cases.

For comparison with my 29” bartlein, 84 gr of h1000 makes 3075, and is just beginning to get a sticky bolt. If I were to continue to shoot 215’s, I’d back it down to 3025-3050. I prefer 225 elds’s at 2950.

You make a good point. Let me get through the first firing and see if see a difference. Looks like the shoulder is growing .007 after the first firing.

I’m running a 33” Bartlein, 8.5 twist on my DT SRS. I am getting 3030 MV with only 83 grains of retumbo and SD around 6 and ES 20.

Air space in case was a concern, but at 1760, it was sub 1/2 MOA without any fliers.

I am shooting the new Sierra 230’s with a BC of .800. Sierra claims they need 8 twist to stabilize, maybe i am fine because the 33”?

Peterson brass is very very very impressive!
