For those of you that has shot the 300 norma mag for awhile now, what kind of barrel life are you getting? My first barrel went south at 600 rounds. I did shoot it in hot weather and shoot a few 7 or 8 shot strings fairly quickly. My second barrel is still shooting great, but I already have fire cracking pretty bad with only 340 rounds down it. Neither load has been that hot. I'm only using 83.5gr of H1000. I was hoping to at least get close to 1000 rounds per barrel with precision accuracy.

I’m running a 35 degree improved version , and barrel life seems excellent for a 300 NM variant .
Form L to R : 223 with 80vld , 6.5 x47 with 130 AR Hybrid , 300 NM Imp with 230 Hybrid , 375 prototype
based on 50 BMG .

Left target is 3 shots @ around 200 rounds thru , right is 3 shots after 1030 rounds , shot in a 15 mph 3 o’clock
wind . Velocity has dropped from 3k to 2930 fps , last week I had it out to 1500 , and it was holding less than
MOA vertical at that distance . I shoot in extremely hot conditions sometimes , so I elected to run a milder tune
than a lot of guys here run : only 84.7 of H1000 . I prefer to sacrifice velocity in favour of reliability .
Barrel life seems to greatly benefit from the 35 shoulder , and milder tune .

Sounds like you got the right setup. I'd be happy with 1000 rounds.

83.5 with 215 or 230s?
