Bartlein recommends 1 in 9 twist for .300 PRC. I’m seeing more and more posts with builds going to 1 in 8. Is that more or less a 2000+ yard build thing?

We bought a Bartlein 30" 1 in 9 that and got it quickly to 2400 yards. Next time out we'll try 2600 yards... I'd been thinking 1:8 or 1:8.5 but Pauly and Mike at Mile High recommended 1:9 so I listened to the experts and am happy I did. If you are going to shoot solids, for sure consider 1:8.

I would rather have a 1/10 then a 1/8. Unless your ONLY shooting the 250s and nothing else. 1/9 seems to be the happy medium for guys that may shoot in cold conditions at low altitude. Ask Dave Tooley as he has been shooting them for years and years with mainly 10 twist if I remember correctly. I have a 9 and have shot out to 2640 yards with it.. not really the tool for the job at that distance, but it works. My next barrel will be another 9. Now that I have a 375CT, I will keep the PRC for the 2000 and closer rifle. At a mile +/- the PRC is a hammer. The 9 twist just works.

Just finished dropping the TriggerTech Diamond trigger in. Can’t wait to work up a load n make a run out west this summer! Shot a box of Hornady 225 gr ELD Match and had some pretty tight groups first time out a couple weeks ago. Not bad considering it was -11 degrees n fairly windy. Can’t pick the weather for the weekend lol.
