Before I build this calibre I thought I would get some feedback from a good group of fellow shooters. Can anyone tell me some pros & cons. Is it fairly accurate? It will be used for long range shooting and hunting from 300 yds to 1000.Bullet weights from 210-250grs.

It is very accurate, eats barrels, costs a lot to shoot, kicks like hell and is a very specialized cartridge. (This from a guy who built a 244 H&H and a 22-06, because? well I wanted them).
I have strong opinions on hunting beyond 400 yards but I'll zip my lip.
IMO a properly twisted 338 Lapua Magnum shooting 300 grainers would be more fun and more effective but, if you want it do it. The Hodgdon website has lots of data for both cartridges.

Recoil, muzzle blast (more if braked), more powder, decreased barrel life, increased barrel fouling, increased barrel heat, and price of brass. I'd go 300 WM before RUM. For 1 or 2 shots spaced out, RUM will work. For a lengthy range session, your barrel will be too hot (or way too big) to shoot quickly on a thin barrel.

Well, my best bud has a RUM & he loves it as do several others I know who have them. Now, they use them exclusively for hunting rather than target shooting & they are running lighter bullets like the 150gr Barnes Triple Shocks with pretty high velocities. Accuracy is pretty damn good with MOA to sub-MOA being par for the course.
I personally shoot a .300WM with either 180 or 168 Barnes TSX & in my Win 70, I'm pulling 3300FPS with the 168's. I prefer the WM over the RUM for all the reasons mentioned before on blast, cost etc.
Whilst hunting this past season, we were bored & decided to see who could smack a 2 foot sized rock at a lasered 975 yds. A buddy, who is a long time member here & very good shot engaged the rock with his GAP .300WM & hit it on the third shot & twice in succession thereafter. Of the 2 guys with RUM rifles, one did eventually hit it (& he is a former SF sniper) so I personally see no advantage in the RUM over a WM. The failure to engage the rock was more a factor of a lack of extreme distance shooting experience than a failing of the weapons system.
I did build a .338LM as well & the RUM will be cheaper to shoot than the LM for sure. The RUM surely won't perform as well with the heavier bullets but I guess you have to work out what's best for you. I'll be taking my LM hunting this year & I too have my opinions on longer range hunting but I'm keeping my mouth shut....
