I am just getting into this and just started reloading, working on developing a round that shoots well. I am getting close and they shoot really well
but the problem I am having is they are too long to fit into the factory magazine of my 700 rem. They are about .23" too long

Is there any option of getting a mag installed that will hold these longer round, I want to go to a detachable mag anyways but no sense if it's not gonna fit these new loads.

Wyatts makes a larger mag box that requires machining your action, but I'm not sure it's That long. RUM cartridges are notorious for having a lot of freebore in factory rifles. What bullets are you using? You may want to try Berger hybrids or Sierra SMK that will tollerate a fair amount of jump.

Yo Taylorbok,

So instead of us having us guess, why don't you tell us exactly what the COAL of your handloaded round that your trying to shoehorn into your mag. is?? 3.600" is factory spec 300 Rum length BTW.

Then we can maybe make some useful suggestions to your problem. Of course totally unhelpful and bogus advise is always free here at Sniper's Hide......

COAL is 3.838, i suppose that would have been useful info. bullet may get a touch longer here soon once I get my powder 100% figured out currently using barnes LRX 200gr, I want to try some Bergers but no one here sells them so gotta order online.

Yes, the CFE9 will allow COAL very close to 4". I used one for my 338 Edge build. The only issue is that it requires permanent modification of your action. You must remove about 1/4" of material in the read of the bottom opening to allow the case heads to sit further back; this is where the length comes from. Then you must modify the bolt stop to allow the bolt to come back far enough to pick up the rounds.

I did all the work on mine with a Dremel and a lot of patience.

that CFE-9 is prob the route I will go, sure its not detachable but at least allows use of these rounds. does it come with instructions at all? I will prob have a gun smith do it anyhow but if it looked simple enough I would maybe do it my self.
