i run the same bullet with H1000 and it gives me 2850fps average.

The search engine does work, however more often than not you have sort through pages of worthless banter between people arguing over which is better or people saying "its called using the search engine". If you want to answer his question answer it, why first do you need to make a dumb ass comment.

I'm also curious...is this bear/deer? AND self defense? or defense FROM bears? Either way, a lever gun in .338 or .444 marlin is tough to beat. Just keep workin that lever till they go down! Unless of course you already have the .300 winny, in which case, ignore my previous point.
But seeing as how a 30-30 will/has done that job, I'm confident any load you use in the 300 win mag is going to work just fine and dandy.

On a serious note. A buddy of mine had a good load with the 208 a Max bullets. But really you should find the bullet you want and work up a load for your rifle. Any of the bullet powder/ charges you find on here may work but you still may have to tweak it for your rifle anyway.

208 Hornady amax & start between 74gr to 76.8gr of H1000. should find a sweet spot there somewhere.

Deer, bears and Zombie self-defense... that must be what he meant. 200gr SGK over h4350. Will kill bears, Manbearpig, and deers, but you might have to do some looking for the edible pieces of deer in the grass or trees behind the carcass...

The guy is probably going deer hunting on Kodiak or some other place in Alaska where he may run into a Brown Bear. Your 300 is going to kill the deer if you can hit it right so I'd use some Bear Claws, Partition, A Frame, etc. and be happy.

I live and hunt with Grizzlies.
Bear spray is going to be alot more helpful than your .300 Win Mag. Those of us that have seen bears move know that accurate shot placement is going to be hard to come by before the bear is on you.
Having said that, when I elk hunt in Grizz country, I carry a .375 for my rifle, and a can of bear spray.
I live and hunt with Grizzlies.
Bear spray is going to be alot more helpful than your .300 Win Mag. Those of us that have seen bears move know that accurate shot placement is going to be hard to come by before the bear is on you.
Having said that, when I elk hunt in Grizz country, I carry a .375 for my rifle, and a can of bear spray.
