300nm or 338 edge and why

I have a spare 700la just laying around that I want to build a 1000 yard plus rifle on. I'm currently stuck between the 300nm and the 338 edge. I know that the nm will need a new bolt which isn't a problem. Just wanting some insight on both calibers and if anyone has built the Norma of a 700 action. 0

If that's what you've got, do the EDGE.
Although you can get the proper boltface for a standard Rem LA, the larger case creates more bolt thrust, due to the increased surface area of the Lapua sized case. In short, that could create a potentially unsafe condition. For that very reason, I built my Norma Mag wildcat on a Deviant LA with larger diamter .750" bolt to better handle the increased bolt thrust of a Lapua sized case.
Surely there are other more knowledgeable guys that can explain further...

Curious but why not ask 338 Edge or 300 RUM

My vote goes to the 300NM. Less recoil, shoots flatter, and was designed around a standard long action.

My main concern is will the 300nm work in a 700 la receiver safely

Go the edge (Or a 300 RUM), just build a single shot and seat those projectiles out as far as possible and throat accordingly.
