Anyone out there using these and if so are you able to load them to magazine lenght or are the longer. I just purchased a 700 5R in 308 and am torned between the 175 sierra hpbt and this.

also what is your load.

You MAY have an easier time with the Berger 175 BT, not the VLD. For some, the VLD can be tricky to tune. Start a little low, but I have seen 44.8 grains of Varget in Lapua brass work really nice in that type of rifle.

Unless you are using an extended length mag and have had the bottom of your receiver lengthened as well, you’re not going to get close to the lands with either bullets. That is not to say they won’t shoot well in your rifle at mag friendly lengths. Ultimately you won’t know until you try. For my 308's 175’s and lapua brass I use 44.6 grains varget, winchester brass gets 45 grains. Seat them as long as your mag will allow and still feed 100% of the time. In my experience berger vlds prefer a couple tenths more powder than the same weight smk. Remember to work up to these loads as they are near the top end and differences in your equipment and components will be different than mine.
