I recently finished a .308 AR build. Mega Machine MATEN billet upper and lower, Wilson Combat 16" stainless fluted barrel, Wilson Combat bolt, LaRue trigger, Diamondhead forearm and muzzle break, Magpul furniture, and a Colt competition.308 AR buffer, buffer spring, and collapsible stock buffer tube (that I bought in a package from CDNN a couple years ago). The charging handle is pretty hard to pull back in comparison to other .308 ARs that I've tried.

Two days ago, while shooting it for the first time it would not feed the next round. I put about 12 rounds through it, with problems every round. I'm pretty sure it's the buffer/buffer spring causing the problem (probably being too heavy). I called Wilson Combat yesterday. I Spoke to a customer service rep to find out what they use (buffer, buffer spring) and he said that they use standard AR15 buffers and buffer springs in their .308 AR rifles. There were no gunsmiths on hand, apparently they all have Friday's off to verify this.

Those of you that have done .308 AR builds, what did you use/recommend?

Thank you

I am going to assume a collapsible stock?

I have no specs on the colt buffer tube and buffer, so no idea what style they were made after

In general on a DPMS style 308 AR10 you CAN use standard AR15 buffer tubes (7" long), but then you must use the shorter AR10 buffers (they are 2.5" long) - but you need a DPMS style AR10 specific spring - can't recall length - cannot use an ar15 spring

or

You can use a longer Armalite style buffer tube (7 5/8" long), and then use standard AR15 buffers (3 1/8" long) - this one will take a 13 3/4″ AR10 spring

The buffer weight depends on gun specifics, I usually use the 5.7oz ones
