F T/R Competition 308 Brass

Re: 308 Brass

Nosler brass is good quality stuff. I agree Lapua is overpriced, but you can get lots of loads with it. I've even reloaded with cheap Walmart once fired Federal brass with good consistency, it's just requires more prepping and sorting.

Re: 308 Brass

Nosler puts a good deal of time into improving their brass that they get from the factory, and for a reload or two it will probably work very well. Unfortunately, it is closely related metallurgically to Federal brass, and as such is too soft to hold up under repeated reloading. If you're looking for a "bargain" alternative to Lapua's very good brass, look at Winchester, at .38 cents a pop. You have to do a little more work with case prep than the Lapua, but the case volume (water volume) is ~1.75 grains more too.

YMMV,

Re: 308 Brass

I would listen to Darrell. I have 300 pieces of 308 Lapua I have been shooting on for a while but I can quite get the velocity that I get with my cheap Win brass, and the Win brass lasts pretty good as well. With a bit of prep, Win brass can and has been extremely accurate for me to the level of my Lapua brass.
