Hunting & Fishing .308 Hornday 165gr. SST

Re: .308 Hornday 165gr. SST

That's what I used last year and the farthest any deer went was about 8', that was only because they were in a dead run.

i'll let you know how they work on meat after i get back from deer season this year

when i tested them on a pumpkin - i saw expansion after only a 8" ish pumpkin when shooting them outa my 30-06.

they'll be coming out of my DPMS lr308 this year though.

at the distances i hunt - if i do my part - i doubt bullet selection is going to be a big factor honestly

Re: .308 Hornday 165gr. SST

Ive dropped whitetail (several) with the 165's out of my '06 and a muley at 245yds with a 180sst out of my .300wm.....all worked great, the bullet doesn't fall apart and penetrates good with decent expansion.

i have used the 162 sst for elk from my 7MM RM. it has nver failed to bring down the animal, but everytime i was able to recover the bullet fromt he carcass, the core had separated from the jacket. recently, i have been playing with the barnes TSX
