Im thinking of building a .308 (AR-10) for my next build but was wondering what lower reciever should I go with?

DPMS Lower
or
Armalite Lower

I heard certain mags only fit with certain lowers etc.

I plan on going with the 21" Noveske bbl, Armalite upper, Daniel Defense AR-10 Lite rail 12.0" w/ Armalite bbl nut, A2 buttstock, etc.

Well if you have an armalite upper you have to go with an armalite lower. DPMS and Armalite don't interchange. If you are thinking about DPMS, I have a new factory lower with a 6 pos stock that I thought I was going to get an upper for but decided not to, if you are interested send me a PM.

How do you figure an Armalite upper is any more accurate than a DPMS? Wouldn't the barrel be the deciding factor in that equation? You could put the same barrel on a DPMS setup and it would be just as accurate.

I understand that a factory Armalite will more than likely outshoot a factory DPMS rig, but building your own, I just don't see how an Armalite forged upper/lower would be any different than a DPMS forged upper/lower.

No one lower receiver is better than another per se. It is all a matter of which magazine you prefer to run. Your decision is already made however, since you stated you plan on running an Armalite pattern upper. Armalite pattern upper=Armalite pattern lower ONLY.

With Armalite...you are limited to Armalite magazines (no aftermarket mags available at this time). They are highly reliable mags, available in 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 round varieties. The drawback with the Armalite mags is that they are expensive compared to the DPMS/KAC platform (which has a ton of aftermarket support). When Armalite doesn't have them on sale or package deal prices, they run $40/mag (roughly). You can often get them less expensively buying on ARFCOM, here on the board and elsewhere. Armalite, Eagle Arms, Noveske, Aero Precision, and IRA all make Armalite pattern lower receivers.

+1

I also have to agree that accuracy in a semi-auto is going to have a lot to do with the barrel, as well as the trigger. The DPMS trigger leaves a lot to be desired. If you go with the DPMS, then you have multiple magazine options and the LR308 PMAGS can be used. They have performed perfectly for me. GA Precision uses the DPMS for their semi auto 308 builds and given the quality of operation they are, they could choose to use anything.
