This was a combo I had to try out for the .308. We are having issues with some mange coyotes, so I figured I'd save the fur friendlier bullets for their fairer furred friends, and see what kind of effect these would have on the uglies. I'm thinking they'll work smashingly well.

I used an OAL of 2.700 and 47.8 gr of IMR 8208 XBR, and a CCI BR2. Very nice powder. It works well in the AR10 platform, all the way to 168's. So I found three on a hole and lit them up from 160 yards away I think it was. Kinda' had the effect of the fountain at the Bellagio in Vegas. The external ballistics are VERY similar to the 55/ 60 gr class bullets from a .223, so their flight path is not totally unfamiliar.

I didn't shoot very many as I was letting the oldest daughter have at 'em with my buddies .17 fireball specialty pistol. That kid was 9 for the first nine shots. Never handled a centerfire before either.

I went for the less than graphic pic, and put the dogs sunny-side down. It was pretty funny to watch one arc off and to the right, and one arc off to the left, and the one in the back just fell over and down the hole like a bowling pin! At first I thought it was only a double, but when we went out to investigate, lo and behold...there was #3!

I REALLY love the flexibility of the .308 and AR platform. I can shoot the 110's with 8208 at varmints, or the 208's with RL17 at big game. All at mag length, and all sub MOA. Fantastic. Now I just need to wait till it cools off some and find some of those mangy dogs.

The hang time is most excellent. There are 110 Sierra's and Speers too, I think. It's nice to know that if I were relegated to one weapon, heaven forbid, the .308 can handle varmints to big game with aplomb with bullet sized to match the intended quarry.

I love the sierra 110's, I loaded some up in my 300wsm and shot some PD's, the results were quite dramatic. Those dogs couldn't have been served sunny side down, they were more of a scrambled concoction, an omelette filled with lead, dirt, and some sage.

P-dogs are fun critters to shoot. Especially at long range. I engaged a pair at 540 yrds and hit one with my 300.....the other just stood there and tried to figure out where his buddy went. Nice shootin' to say the least. Wish they would line up like that for me.
