1. you have a decent scope going on, compliment it with decent rings
2. no rifle NEEDS a fancy scope base and such, but they DO make the experience better and offers more versatility.
3. cheap pair of rings tend to slide around either because the rings suck and don't grip the dovetail correctly, or the dovetail sucks and don't allow the rings (good or cheap) to grip as well as they should.
you didn't mention what rifle it is, if it's a newer marlin with dovetail grooves and is drilled and tapped, get the DIP base. if your rifle is not drilled and tapped, i'd get it drilled and tapped for the DIP base with at least "decent rings" holding the optic, and you have the option of several mounting positions for proper eye relief / clearances.
lastly if you just want to keep the dovetail grooves and not get it drilled and tapped, at least get millet angle locks
