This was a great failure of the Government, and those most at fault were never punished. While worth remembering the actionable lesson should be "never modify a gun for a buyer." as the ATF got its hooks in by purchasing a shot gun that they claimed was too short of a barrel.
All due respect to dog lovers: the dog being shot dead is a pretty small issue compared to the wife holding an infant being sniped dead under orders from on high.
