Gunsmithing .338 edge build ?

I was just wondering price range on a .338 edge build i know there are a TON of variables but im just looking for an average estimate. I need to know what im getting into before im in too deep

In the rifle i want:
bull barrel w/ break (fluting optional)
Mcmillan A-5 stock
oversized charging handle
20-30 MOA rail system

I would say you would be in the 2,500-3000 range using custom parts and a good smith.Keep an eye open in the clasifieds on this site and over at LRH. There have been some very nice 338 EDGE rigs for sale in this economy.
The EDGE is a hell of a caliber, you will like it.

I am currently having one built. I did have a head start though. I had a Remington Sendero SF II in a .300 UM that shot poorly IMO. I was going to just re barrel it but have been interested in the .338 Edge for a few years and just decided to go for it.

In my case, I purchased a Rock Creek 1-9.4" blank , a Wyatt's extended mag box (CFE 9), Holland's Radial Baffle Muzzle Brake, Holland's Competition Recoil Lug, and the reamer and Go gauge from Pacific Tool and Gauge, and having the action trued. It's basically about half of what a custom would cost simply by me doing all the leg work and rounding up all the parts. If you know a competent smith who is willing to let you do what I have done and just charge for their services, you will save a bundle that can be put towards quality glass or other necessities.

anything that saves me money is precious to me. my budget is about 2k for rifle and under 2k for a scope

I didnt go the cheap route. I had shawn carlock just build me the lightweight long range rifle. Its decked out with everything but the de bolt release. His website is defensive edge. It should be here next week, cant wait. I got over 6k into it, including nightforce scope.

Before you build one make sure you have the time and distance for the Edge. I had one built but had neither time or enough range to gets its potential out of it so I ended up selling it. BTW my Edge build wouldve retailed around 2k, w/o optics, if my brother in law wasn't a gunsmith...
