I am going to build a 338 Edge, but I have some questions. I did read about a guy selling one on here, and he mentioned he knew a guy who was a pro at it and reasonable. I just purchased my Rem 700 SPS in 300 RUM (donor rifle), I also know that I am going to use a Wyatt detach mag assembly. Also I want a 30"+ barrel before the muzzle brake. As far as stock goes, I was dead set on McMillan A3 or A5 until I found out the wait times, and then I saw the Bell & Carlson Tact. how do these shoot though? Any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I love mine ...
If you have any questions feel free to PM.
I went with a Manners T4 and love it. If you have any other questions contact Shawn Carlock at Defensive Edge. You wont be sorry.

Re: 338 Edge for 1st custom gun

I would either go with a Manners or stick with the McMillan stocks. The B&C stocks have alot of flex in them and sometimes don't do well with the larger calibers. I have built alot of Edge's for guys and own a few of them...you won't be sorry. Go with a 30" barrel, add a brake, and have fun. I actually have a spare A3 in the shop right now for a sendero contour barrel. Feel free to PM me or contact me. Not sure where in Washington you are located, but we might be able to hook up and you can shoot a couple in different configurations just to see what they are like.

Edge's are easy to load for and are very accurate.

This is out of one of my personal 338 Edge's checking things out before hunting season.

Get in touch with Shawn Carlock @ Defensive Edge in Rathdrum Id. (about 12 miles east of Spokane) Shawn is a great gunsmith and specializes in the .338 Edge. I'm pretty sure he can answer any and all of your .338 Edge questions. I believe he is working on a +P version of the Edge now too.

defensiveedge.net for info

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure that's just what Shawn is calling it. My guess is some kind of "improved" version maybe but I honestly don't know anymore than that. I believe there is increased FPS witht he +P Edge though.

Re: 338 Edge for 1st custom gun

I am using the B&C stock on my remmy 338 LM with no complaints. It's a great deal for 200 bones.

I also have one of Wyatts DBM's on a short action. Works just fine, again not as pretty as some others but there was no wait and the price was right. Did need a touch of Smithing to get it set up. I understand this is common with most.

mmedearis509,
I WOULD TRY AND TAKE TRAVIS UP ON HIS OFFER TO GET TOGETHER AND SHOOT HIS 338 EDGE.
ALSO, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND HIM TO BUILD YOU A RIFLE. HERE IS A PIC OF A 6.5X47 LAPUA HE BUILT FOR ME LAST YEAR THAN IS A TAC DRIVER.HE DOES QUALITY WORK.
